I believe we should consult Lucas on this. He'd have some ample commentary on this. But he only uses the internet for research. Mostly. I think.

I'd argue it was (a) radical but not (b) a reconstruction. If anything, it was an altered state of the past where symbolic racism became (re)institutionalized.

it was pretty radical for the first few years, then US Grant started being a wuss. and an alcoholic. and then shit just went downhill from there.
